Families delay because they do not know what to say. A short text can start the process and save days of back and forth. Your goal is to give enough information for a strong first recommendation.
Start with who and where. Share your loved one’s name, city, and preferred area. Add the timeline. Discharge in five days. Planning in the next month. Exploring for later this year.
Then share the top challenges in plain terms. Falls twice this month. Missed medications. Needs help bathing. Confused at night. Unsafe driving. Isolation and missed meals. Include mobility status: walker, wheelchair, needs assistance transferring.
Next, share must have needs. Memory care needed. Assisted living with medication administration. Couples option. Ground floor or elevator. Pet friendly. Close to a specific family member.
Include a budget range if you can. Even a range helps. If you do not know, say that. Your advisor can help you estimate based on local pricing and your care needs.
Finally, ask for a specific outcome. Ask for a care needs assessment call and two to three tour options that match. Ask what paperwork will be needed.
A sample text looks like this: Mom in Plano, discharge in 7 days, falls and missed meds, needs help bathing and supervision at night, budget range 5,000 to 6,500, want two tour options and a quick assessment call.
Clear inputs lead to clear options. That is how you move fast without losing control.
