Flu, COVID 19, and RSV planning for older adults

Respiratory viruses rise in winter. A short plan protects health and routines. What day will you schedule vaccines.

Start with flu. CDC recommends flu vaccination every season for everyone from six months up. National Influenza Vaccination Week in early December is the cue to book if you waited. Ask your clinician which flu product is right for age and conditions. CDCNational Today

Add COVID 19. CDC posts current vaccine guidance and updated information statements for providers and recipients. Bring your vaccine record, a medication list, and recent illness history to your appointment so timing is clear. Pair flu and COVID 19 in one visit if your clinician agrees and the clinic can support it. CDC

Include RSV. CDC recommends a single dose for everyone 75 and older and for adults 50 to 74 at increased risk. Three adult RSV vaccines are available. Ask whether you qualify now based on age, heart or lung disease, immune status, or living in a care community. Plan doses in relation to other shots to make scheduling simple. CDC

Make access easy. Ask your senior living community or pharmacy about on site clinics, mobile services, and record keeping. Use a shared calendar with family to set reminders. If transportation or scheduling is a barrier, our advisors can point to communities and services that keep vaccination and follow up simple. CDC
